The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MICT) and its subsidiaries; malomatia, Qatar National Broadband Network (Qnbn), Qatar Satellite Company (Es’hailSat) and Qatar Assistive Technology Center (MADA) today celebrated the National Sports Day 2014 with a unique sports and recreational program for the staff and their families at Park 65, Dafna Area.

Participants dressed in t-shirts carrying logos of MICT and its subsidiaries opened the program with warm-ups and jogging around the park while women warmed up with some yoga exercises. That was followed by a bunch of sports and recreational activities where everyone took part individually and in groups such as a soccer tournament, in addition to several sports and recreational activities for the staff and children.

The day, attended by more than 600 staffers and their family members, also featured competitions in table tennis and tug of war, plus some traditional Qatari activities that reflect the ancient Qatari heritage.

The program also featured special family activities and challenges. Winning families were given awards and healthy food meals were distributed to all participants.

People with disabilities from MADA Center joined the event from early morning. The program witnessed a large participation from the staff of MICT and its subsidiaries, led by senior officials. Participants were encouraged to share their best event photos via Instagram.

“The National Sports Day reflects the vision of the wise leadership for encouraging sports due to its importance for individuals and the society. “Es’hailSat’s participation in Qatar’s National Sports Day reflects the company’s deep belief in the importance of fitness and sports for healthier bodies and minds and stronger inter-employee relationships. Participation in National Sports Day activities serves the sports dimension of Qatar’s National Vision in which Qatar seeks to become the first, most favorite destination for hosting and organizing the world’s biggest sports events,” said Ali Al-Kuwari, CEO of Es’hailSat.

From his Part, Yousef Al Naama, malomatia Chief Executive Officer, said, “The National Sports Day has become a unique occasion celebrated by Qatar every year as an emphasis on the importance of fitness and sports that should be part of our daily calendar because the type of work we are doing requires us to spend long times in front of computers” adding, “malomatia’s participation in that fitness day reflects the institutional partnership with all state agencies in order to improve sports for better bodies and more active minds through building the human being who is capable of participating in the course of development and progress on the way of fulfilling the Qatar National Vision 2030, which considers the human element its most important pillar to build a healthier, civilized society.
